Dark yet somehow beautiful, even calming. Very macabre.

(Not really sure why pullingcandy would use those terms but, eh.)

I'm always big on skulls - back molars but no middles, low brow and high cheeks.

The image fades slightly, which makes me cock my head - and that is a complete pleasure.  You might want to look into skulls of the porcine variety in the near future - they are quite fascinating.

It's a dark shot. It has a story behind it, as the placement could be natural, though we're not subject to that information, so we'll never know if it was put there, fell there, dropped there, lost there. It's also beautifully centered, so how it got there doesn't matter. What matters is that it is there. It's a quiet, calming, yet macabre because of the subject matter piece that does well in the black and white format. I can't put all of that in the description. But that was my reasoning.

I'm well aware that we all have our own and we all place our own :)
My mention is merely is directed toward, mostly, the fact that I'm around it all the time and find nothing macabre about it.  It does have its own sense of being and is well placed - b&w is hardly used in this day and age and lends itself to a better shot of the main focus.

I was not directly pointing at you, merely stating *my* obvious - not another's.

Oh I wasn't picking a fight, for sure. Just merely explaining my reasoning. Horror/Macabre isn't always blood and guts and gore, for sure. A lot of fantastic work is merely eerie, or dark, or unsettling. :)

Agreed wholeheartedly on the fantastic, there - too many people look for cute in this day and age.  It is always nice to see things from the *other* perspective.

Thank you, by the way, for actually making it a DD - I would not have seen it otherwise, always so busy.

Love the Composition with the strong black and white contrasts between skull and branches and the completely blurred background.
And a very fitting Title as well^^
At first I thought it would have been interesting to see the skull a little more from the front, but as I see you got a another picture from the perspective in your gallery as well so this has already happened.
From which animal is the skull taken from, if I may ask?
